North Coast women’s lacrosse squads kicked off the 2014 season last week with a 3-2 record against non-conference opponents. Non-conference action continues in the coming week with a game on Tuesday, two games on Wednesday, two games on Friday, five on Saturday and three on Sunday.

ALLEGHENY maintained its unbeaten start to the season with an 18-9 win over Thiel on March 5th.  Sophomore Gusty Mead (Columbia, MD/Howard) led the Gators with a team-high four goals as the Allegheny defense shut down the Tomcats in the second half, holding Thiel to only three second half goals to clinch the win. McKenzie Bell (Akron, OH/Walsh Jesuit) logged a team-high five assists and freshman Kaelin Clogan (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine Richland High School) racked up 10 saves in net.

DENISON will open the 2014 season on Saturday, March 8th, versus Adrian in Sewanee, Tennessee at 1:00 p.m.

DEPAUW opened its 2014 campaign with a 14-9 victory over Mt. St. Joseph. DePauw was led by Carey Kunz (Indianapolis, IN/Park Tudor) with four goals. Other goal scorers for the Tigers were Jamie Powell (Earl Park, IN/Culver Academies) (3), Elizabeth McCracken (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) (2), Emily Scinta  (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day) (2), Nicole Gibson (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill)Maryclaire Heldring  (Kenilworth, IL/New Trier) and Taylor Summers (Cambridge, MD/Saints Peter and Paul H.S.).

KENYON will open the 2014 season on Friday, March 7th, on the road against Puget Sound at 7:00 p.m.

HIRAM opened up the 2014 season by falling to Houghton, 16-0. The Terriers will return to action Tuesday, March 4th, at home against Olivet at 4:00 p.m.

OBERLIN will open the 2014 season on Saturday, March 8th, on the road against Otterbein at 1:00 p.m.

OHIO WESLEYAN will open the 2014 season on Wednesday, March 5th, on the road against Otterbein at 1:00 p.m.

WITTENBERG will open the 2014 season on Saturday, March 8th, on the road against Guilford at 4:00 p.m.

Sophomore attacker Abby Szlachta (Highlands Ranch, CO/Rock Canyon) gave WOOSTER a 3-0 lead, recording a hat trick a little over 10 minutes into the action, but Centre came back for a 9-8 win.
