The North Coast women’s lacrosse season continued last week with all nine teams in action. Conference play is scheduled to open on Saturday with DePauw (0-0, 2-2) traveling to Oberlin (0-0, 2-1), Kenyon (0-0, 4-0) visiting Wittenberg (0-0, 2-1) and Hiram (0-0, 1-2) hosting Wooster (0-0, 3-2).

ALLEGHENY picked up a 20-10 win over Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday in the Gators only contest of the week. Junior McKenzie Bell (Akron, OH/Walsh Jesuit) scored 10 total points, tallying five goals and five assists, while first year Shelby Piper (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) followed her strong debut last week with four goals and three assists. Sophomore Kaelin Clogan (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine Richland High School) logged her first victory of the year in net against the Presidents.

DENISON played its first of four spring break games on Sunday, falling 15-11 to Connecticut College in Clearwater, Florida. Claire Ludlow (Saugatuck, MI/East Grand Rapids) paced DU with four goals against the Camels. They will return to action on Wednesday when they take on William Smith in Florida. They will return north for a pair of games over the weekend against Adrian and Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.

DEPAUW split its weekend contests, holding on to a 12-11 victory over Concordia, but falling to Carthage, 13-11. Emma Flynn (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) led the Tigers with seven goals.

KENYON continued its impressive start to the season with a 20-10 win at Otterbein on Saturday. Kenyon, the nation’s leader in scoring offense, jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never was threatened after that. Freshman Kat Englert (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) has scored six goals in each of the last three contests and now leads the squad with 21 scores.

HIRAM dropped a 22-2 contest at Rhodes on Tuesday. Junior Rebecca Goetz (Lake View, NY/Frontier) scored both goals in the contest to lead the Terriers.

OBERLIN started the week with a commanding 16-1 win over Otterbein in its first-ever game at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex, but then took to the road and fell 15-9 at Mount Union. Junior Grace Barlow (Elm Grove, WI/Brookfield East) registered a hat trick in each game to run her goal total to a team-high 10.

OHIO WESLEYAN went 0-3 on a tough west coast spring break road trip last week, falling to Puget Sound, George Fox and Pacific. Sophomore Nicole Sanczyk (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) led the Bishops on the week with 11 goals and three assists for 14 total points.

WITTENBERG split a pair of spring break games in Colorado, falling 23-13 at Colorado College, before winning 17-6 in Colorado St.-Pueblo’s inaugural home game. Junior Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, OH/Cleveland Heights) and senior Logan Warye (Maineville, OH/Kings) each poured in four goals and one assist in the win, as Warye finished the week with seven goals and one assist. Sophomore Becca Joseph (Toledo, OH/St. Ursula) scored six goals and handed out one assist in the loss, adding three goals and two assists in the win to lead the team on the week.

WOOSTER went 2-1 in its three contests last week, picking up wins over Mount St. Joseph and Alma. In the two wins, the Fighting Scots outscored their opponents by a combined score of 44-5. The win over Alma marked ninth-year head coach Elizabeth Ford’s 100th career victory. Senior Shelby Stone (Grosse Pointe Park, MI/Grosse Pointe South) notched her 100th career goal in the win over Mount St. Joseph and now has 106 total goals after leading Wooster on the week with 11 goals and three assists.
