North Coast women’s lacrosse squads kicked off the 2015 season last week. Non-conference action continues in the coming week with conference play scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 21st.
ALLEGHENY will open the 2015 season on Thursday, March 5th, on the road against Thiel at 7:00 p.m.
DENISON opened the 2015 season with convincing wins over Centre, 21-2, and Millsaps, 18-6, last weekend in Danville, Kentucky. The Big Red’s 39 goals were scored by 11 different players. Reid Hirschey (Edina, MN/Edina) scored five goals in the win over Millsaps and posted three in the opening win over Centre. Her eight goals came via 11 shot attempts.
DEPAUW opened its 2015 campaign with a 9-6 home loss to Capital. Carey Kunz (Indianapolis, IN/Park Tudor) and Nicole Gibson (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) each scored two goals in the loss.
KENYON will open the 2015 season on Monday, March 2nd on its spring break trip in Florida versus Mt. St. Mary.
HIRAM will open the 2015 season on Friday, March 6th, at home against Franciscan at 5:00 p.m.
OBERLIN'S season opener versus Ursuline on February 28 was cancelled due weather. The Yeowomen will now hope to open the season on Wednesday, March 4 at Baldwin Wallace.
OHIO WESLEYAN dropped its 2015 season-opening contest, 17-5, against Mount Union on Saturday. Nicole Sanczyk (New Providence, NJ) led the Bishops with three goals and an assist. Senior Jordan Bernstein (Charlotte, NC/Providence) and sophomore Natalie Reddy (South Salem, NY/John Jay) combined for five saves for Ohio Wesleyan.
WITTENBERG will open the 2014 season on Monday, March 2nd, on the road against Mount St. Joseph at 5:30 p.m.
In its season-opener on Saturday afternoon, WOOSTER fell 13-11 in a tightly-contested battle with No. 20 Fredonia State. The Scots were within one goal of the nationally-ranked Blue Devils on four separate occasions during the second half.
