North Coast women’s lacrosse squads kicked off the 2016 season last week as league teams combined to post a perfect 4-0 mark. Non-conference action continues in the coming week with conference play scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 26th. 

ALLEGHENY will open the 2016 season on Saturday, March 5th, on the road against Frostburg St. at 4:00 p.m.

DENISON scored eight-consecutive goals over the final 25 minutes of play to pull off a 13-8 come-from-behind victory over Augustana in Detroit, Michigan. Senior Carol Allen (Nashville, TN/Ensworth) netted five of the team’s 13 goals, including four-straight unassisted tallies to close out the game. Sophomore Claudia Rafi (Mason, OH/Ursuline Academy) and junior Claire Ludlow (Saugatuck, MI/East Grand Rapids) each chipped in three goals, while Lizzy Pellicane (Short Hills, NJ/Morristown-Beard) provided the other two scores.

DEPAUW opened the season with a 9-8 win over visiting Carthage. Emma Flynn (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) paced the Tigers with three goals and one assist. The Tigers rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit with four goals in the first 8:23 of the second half. Elizabeth McCrackedn (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) scored the game winner with 10:48 remaining.

HIRAM will open the 2016 season on Wednesday, March 2nd, at home against Muskingum at 7:00 p.m.

KENYON will open the 2016 season on Tuesday, March 8th on its spring break trip in Florida versus Alfred.

OBERLIN outshot Kalamazoo 46-12 en route to an impressive 21-4 victory to open the 2016 season. Nine different Yeowomen tallied goals, while four Oberlin women - Natalie Rauchle (Edina, MN/Edina), Grace Barlow (Elm Grove, WI/Brookfield East), Suzanna Doak (Portland, OR/St. Mary’s Academy), Sara Phister (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe) - found the back of the net three or more times in Michigan. Rauchle led the Oberlin offense with five goals in the victory while Barlow finished the season opener as the top point-getter with six on four goals and two assists. Doak notched five-points with two assists as her and Phister both registered hat-tricks to kick off the year.

OHIO WESLEYAN won its 2016 season-opening contest, 13-11, against W&J on Saturday. Nicole Sanczyk (New Providence, NJ)led the Bishops with six goals, including the game-winner. Junior Natalie Reddy (South Salem, NY/John Jay) recorded 10 saves in net for the Bishops.

WITTENBERG will open the 2016 season on Saturday, March 5th, at home against John Carroll at 1:00 p.m.

WOOSTER will open the 2016 season on Wednesday, March 2nd at home against Walsh at 5:00 p.m.
