GRANVILLE, Ohio --  Denison senior midfielder Maggie Armstrong was named to the Division III women's soccer Scholar All-America second-team as announced by the United Soccer Coaches.  This comes on the heels of Armstrong's Division III All-America team announcement on November 29. She will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches All-America ceremony on January 12, 2019, in Chicago in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Armstrong is the fifth Denison women's soccer player to earn Scholar All-America and All-America honors in the same season.  Sarah Ash '09 accomplished the feat in 2007 and again in 2008.  Colleen Wirtz '06 completed the double play in 2004 and 2005 and Denison's first Scholar All-American and All-American was Meredith Reider '02 in 2001.

Armstrong leaves Granville as one of the women's soccer program's most decorated players.

She was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year for the second time in her career after leading Denison to the 2018 NCAC championship. The Big Red were undefeated in conference play at 6-0-2 as Armstrong paced the team in goals (9), assists (6) and points (24).  Armstrong tallied five game-winning goals in 2018 and posted her first career hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Shenandoah on Sept. 9.

A four-year starter, she appeared in 75 matches, totaling 28 goals and 13 assists.  Armstrong is a four-time All-NCAC honoree and a three-time first-team selection.  She was named to the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes All-Region team, three times.

Since arriving in Granville in 2015 Armstrong and the Big Red have won 46 matches with a .671 winning percentage.  Denison advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2015 and 2016 and captured a conference tournament title in 2016 and a regular season conference crown in 2018.

A biology major from Wilmette, Illinois, Armstrong boasts a 3.52 cumulative grade point average.  She is a member of the pre-health honor society and Mortar Board.
