2018 NCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

October 29th

Maggie Armstrong, Denison
(Wilmette, Ill./New Trier)

Denison women’s soccer secured their 10th NCAC regular season championship on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win at Ohio Wesleyan. This was the Big Red’s first conference title since 2013, and first outright championship since 2009. Senior Maggie Armstrong posted the game-winning goal in both wins over Hiram and Ohio Wesleyan, including two assists against the Terriers. 

October 22nd

Lexie Chafin, Ohio Wesleyan
(Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Orange)

Ohio Wesleyan’s Lexie Chafin had a hand in all three Bishop goals last week. She converted a penalty kick in the 10th minute against Kenyon and set up an insurance goal in the 29th minute that secured the 2-0 victory. She also scored the only goal in a 1-0 decision over Hiram on Saturday. The two wins moved OWU into sole possession of third place in the NCAC standings.

October 15th

Patil Tcholakian, Denison
(Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington)

Freshman goalkeeper Patil Tcholakian recorded her fifth and sixth shutouts on the season with 1-0 victories over Oberlin and Wittenberg last week. Tcholakian’s diving save in the 89th minute against Wittenberg kept the Tigers off the board as Denison closed out the victory.

October 8th

Erica White, Wooster
(Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry)

Senior Erica White scored both goals in the Scots’ 2-0 win over Wittenberg on Saturday. She scored in the 27th minute off a rebound and again in the 83rd minute with a penalty kick. White leads the NCAC with eight goals for the first-place Scots, who sit at 7-1-3 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC. 

October 1st

Erica White, Wooster
(Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry)

Senior Erica White (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) continued to lead the Scots offensively with the team’s first goal in their only game last week, a 2-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan. It was her team-high and conference-leading sixth goal on the year for the 6-1-3, 2-0 Scots.

September 24th

Jillian Countey, Kenyon
(New York, N.Y./Rudolf Steiner)

Jillian Countey’s 11 saves against John Carroll in a 1-0 overtime victory were a single-game personal best for the sophomore. Her two shutouts last week gave her four on the season and 16 for her career, a total that ranks fourth-best in Kenyon Women’s Soccer program history.

September 17th

Isabelle Smith, Oberlin
(Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Paul Academy & Summit)

Isabelle Smith improved to 3-1 in goal for the Yeowomen as she made nine saves in her first two career shutouts last week. On Wednesday, Smith made three of her five saves in final 36 minutes of play to secure a 2-0 victory against Geneva. She also made four saves in a 1-0 victory against Marietta on Saturday.

September 10th 

Maya Hackman, Allegheny
(Derry, Pa./Derry Area)

Allegheny sophomore Maya Hackman earned a pair of shutout wins for the Gators. On Wednesday against Pitt-Bradford, Hackman turned in seven saves, as the Gators picked up a 4-0 win. On Saturday against Chatham, the Gators were out-shot 20-9, but Hackman turned away all nine shots on goal to pick up her second shutout of the season, and fourth of her career.

September 4th

Samantha Hayes, Kenyon
Oakville, Ontario/Iroquis)

Kenyon sophomore Samantha Hayes tallied both goals in the Ladies' 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve on Friday, Aug. 31. She knocked in the first goal at the 21:55 mark, before tacking on another goal in the 59th minute. The goals were Hayes fifth and sixth of her career in a Kenyon uniform.
