    After winning its first NCAC Women’s Tennis championship since 2011, the Denison booked its ticket to compete in the 49-team 2016 NCAA Division Women’s Tennis Championship, which is set to begin with first-third round matchups this weekend, May 12-14.

    Kenyon sophomore Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther) has been named the Player of the Year and Denison freshman Lauren Hawley (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Alter) has been named the Newcomer of the Year to highlight the 2016 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's tennis selections.
  • Big Red Capture 12th NCAC Women's Tennis Title

    The 2016 NCAC Women's Tennis Championships came to a close on Sunday afternoon at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, with top-seeded Denison (14-7) capturing its first conference title since 2011 and 12th overall with a 5-4 victory over second-seeded Kenyon (15-10) in the championship match. With the victory, the Big Red have earned the league's automatic bid into the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament.

    The 2016 NCAC Women’s Tennis Championships will be held at Denison University next weekend, April 29- May 1. The tournament begins with quarterfinal matches on Friday, semifinal and fifth- & seventh-place matches on Saturday and the championship and third-place matches on Sunday.

Following the completion of all conferences matches this weekend, the league’s seeding committee will meet on Sunday night and the official brackets for the tournament will be released next Monday, April 25.

With the calendar turning to April, NCAC teams are now settling into divisional play, led by Ohio Wesleyan (0-1, 5-3) hosting Wittenberg (0-0, 4-11) in the West on Wednesday and Kenyon traveling to Allegheny (0-0, 3-9) in the East on Sunday.

    North Coast women’s tennis teams wrapped up spring break training trips last week, but it will be another busy week to come as there are nine dual matches on the schedule, to go along with Denison (1-0, 5-6), DePauw (0-0, 6-7) and Kenyon (0-0, 6-6) travelling to Madison, Wisconsin, for the annual Midwest Invitational.

    While several NCAC women’s tennis teams will still be competing on spring break trips next week, the first NCAC divisional match of the season is scheduled for this Tuesday when Denison (0-0, 4-5) travels to Ohio Wesleyan (0-0, 4-2) for a 4:30 p.m. match. In addition, DePauw (0-0, 3-4) will wrap up its southern swing by competing in the “Fab 5” Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ohio Wesleyan (0-0, 1-0) and Wittenberg (0-0, 2-5) will be the first two league squads to open their spring break trips in Florida this week.

There will be minimal action across the league this week with just three matches on the schedule, highlighted by 25th ranked Denison (0-0, 3-2) hosting 38th-ranked Kalamazoo on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM.

    The North Coast women’s tennis teams are starting to settle into the spring portion of the 2015-16 season as their were eight matches contested last week, led by No. 25 Denison (0-0, 3-1) taking down No. 39 Oberlin (0-0, 4-3), 8-1, in an NCAC cross-divisional match on Sunday. League squads will return to the court this week with 12 matches on the schedule, led by No. 14 DePauw (0-0, 2-1) hosting the Division III ITA Indoor Nationals in Greencastle.

    The six NCAC women’s tennis teams that were in action last week combined for a 4-3 record in non-conference competition, led by No. 39 Oberlin (0-0, 4-1) logging a pair of 9-0 victories over OAC opponents Baldwin Wallace and Otterbein. League teams return to the court this weekend with 10 matches on the schedule, highlighted by an NCAC cross-divisional match against nationally-ranked opponents as Oberlin will travel to No. 25 Denison (0-0, 2-1) on Sunday.

Three NCAC teams will enter the spring ranked in the Top-40 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national poll, including No. 14 DePauw (0-0, 0-0), No. 25 Denison (0-0, 2-0) and No. 39 Oberlin (0-0, 2-1).
