  • Denison Leads NCAC In Final Learfield Standings
    June 01, 2018
    Following the completion of the 2017-18 NCAA Division III competition season, four North Coast Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top-70 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, led by Denison finishing 44th out of 323 eligible institutions with 382.00 total points. Schools must have competed in an NCAA Championship event during the academic year in order to compile points in the standings.
  • Aboubakare Edged In NCAA Singles Play

    In a wildly unpredictable match on May 24th, Emory University junior Daniela Lopez outlasted Kenyon College senior Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther), 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 and advanced to second-round play in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California.

    Kenyon College senior Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther) and assistant coach Alvin Cheng were among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) NCAA Division III Regional award winners. Aboubakare was tabbed the ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year, Cheng was selected as the tasc Performance ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year in Div. III.
  • Hughes Named Most Improved Senior By ITA

    Oberlin College senior women's tennis player Sarah Hughes (Haddonfield, NJ/Merion Mercy Acad.) added more hardware to her already impressive collection as she was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Most Improved Senior in the nation at the organization's annual banquet prior to the NCAA Division III Championships.
  • Denison Wins Record 16th NCAC All-Sports Title

    Denison won two outright league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's lacrosse, shared the league title with Kenyon in field hockey and posted 14 additional top-five finishes during the 2017-18 academic year to win its league-leading 16th North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.
  • Kenyon Bows Out Of NCAA Tourney

    After cruising to a 5-0 win over Wheaton (IL) in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on May 10th, No. 22 Kenyon bowed out of the national tournament on the next day with a 5-1 loss against No. 9 Carnegie Mellon.
  • Aboubakare Selected For NCAA Singles Championships

    The NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee selected Wednesday the individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Kenyon College senior Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther) earned one of those singles spots and claimed, with freshman Erika Oku (Hinsdale, IL/Hunsdale Central), an alternate spot in the doubles field.

    Kenyon senior Diana Aboubakare (Orange, CA/Luther) has been named the Player of the Year and the Denison junior duo of Emma Alsup (Nashville, TN/Harpeth Hall) and Lauren Hawley (Dayton, OH/Archbishop Alter) were named the Doubles Team of the Year to highlight the 2018 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's tennis selections following balloting by the league coaches.

    After winning its second-straight NCAC Women’s Tennis championship, the Kenyon Ladies booked their ticket to compete in the 49-team 2018 NCAA Division Women’s Tennis Championships, which is set to begin with first-third round matchups this weekend, May 10-12.

  • Kenyon Captures 17th NCAC Women's Tennis Title

    The 2018 NCAC Women's Tennis Championships came to a close on Sunday afternoon at the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, with top-seeded Kenyon (20-2) capturing its second-straight conference title and 17th overall with a 5-0 victory over second-seeded Denison (13-8) in the championship match.

    NCAC women’s tennis teams will wrap up the conference portion of the 2018 season this week in preparation for the 2018 NCAC Women’s Tennis Championships, which will be held at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 27-29. Following the completion of all conference matches this weekend, the league’s seeding committee will meet on Sunday evening and the official bracket for the tournament will be released next Monday, April 23rd.

There are 11 total matches on the slate this week, including six NCAC divisional contests between Tuesday and Saturday.

This week’s schedule opens with an NCAC West match on Wednesday between Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg, while the weekend slate is highlighted by the league’s two nationally-ranked teams, DePauw and Kenyon, competing at the Midwest Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.

    The Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster women’s tennis teams both wrapped up their spring break training trips in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with perfect 3-0 records last week. Several other teams will be in action in the southern US this week, with Denison and Oberlin competing in central Florida, and Allegheny joining Wooster in Hilton Head.

    It was a relatively light week on the NCAC women’s tennis circuit as just three of the eight league teams were in action, highlighted by Kenyon posting a perfect 4-0 record on its spring break trip in Lake Nona, Florida, and Denison earning a victory over Ohio Wesleyan on March 7th in the first NCAC West Divisional match of the season. Five league teams will be in action this week, led by Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster both opening their spring break trips in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

There are nine matches on the slate this week, led by nationally-ranked DePauw traveling to Memphis, Tennessee, for three matches against Millsaps, Harding and Rhodes.

Conference squads resume action this week with 11 total matches on the slate, led by Allegheny squaring off against Denison in an NCAC cross-divisional match on Friday in Erie and DePauw hosting Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday in a battle of nationally-ranked squads.

The spring season begins in earnest this weekend with 10 total matches on the slate, led by Denison taking on No. 9 Chicago on Friday in Westlake, Ohio, and Kenyon hosting Kalamazoo on Saturday morning in Gambier.
