  • Denison Leads NCAC In Final Learfield Standings
    June 01, 2018
    Following the completion of the 2017-18 NCAA Division III competition season, four North Coast Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top-70 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, led by Denison finishing 44th out of 323 eligible institutions with 382.00 total points. Schools must have competed in an NCAA Championship event during the academic year in order to compile points in the standings.
  • Denison Wins Record 16th NCAC All-Sports Title

    Denison won two outright league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's lacrosse, shared the league title with Kenyon in field hockey and posted 14 additional top-five finishes during the 2017-18 academic year to win its league-leading 16th North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.
  • Hiram Names Hardaway W's Volleyball Coach

    After a national search, Hiram athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Mark Hardaway as the new head women's volleyball coach. Hardaway brings with him 30 years of coaching experience, including six as the head coach of Youngstown State University.

    Wittenberg junior setter Karen Wildemann (Columbus, IN/North) was the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
  • Wittenberg's Wildemann Named AVCA All-American
    November 14, 2017
    Wittenberg junior setter Karen Wildemann (Columbus, IN/North) earned AVCA First-Team All-America honors after putting together an impressive junior campaign. Wildemann was most recently named the Most Valuable Player of the Great Lakes Regional last weekend after the Tigers ran through match-play to earn a spot in the national quarterfinals on November 16.
  • Wittenberg Draws Top Seed In VB Championships

    Wittenberg (25-2) will be making a return trip to the eight-team NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championships after capturing its eighth regional title in program history last weekend at the Otterbein College Regional with three wins over PSU-Behrend, 3-0, Juniata, 3-1, and Ohio Northern, 3-0. The Tigers, who won the national title in 2011 and finished as the national runners-up in 2015, were then re-seeded as the top team for this weekend’s eight-team national tournament which will be held at Calvin College’s Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nov. 16-18.
  • Wittenberg Captures Eighth Regional Title

    NCAC regular season and tournament champion Wittenberg (25-2) advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament after a 3-0 victory over Ohio Northern (29-6) in the regional finals at Otterbein University on Sunday afternoon.

    Wittenberg (24-2) advanced to the regional finals of the 2017 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament for the seventh time in the last eight years straight year following a 3-1 victory over Juniata (24-9).
  • Seven Named To 2017 AVCA All-Region Squad

    The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 2017 Division III All-Region Teams on November 9th with seven student-athletes from the North Coast Athletic Conference being named to the All-Great Lakes Region Team.
  • Wittenberg Secures 23rd NCAC VB Tourney Title

    Top-seeded Wittenberg (22-2) captured its conference-leading 23rd NCAC Volleyball Tournament Title on Saturday, November 4th, with a 3-0 victory over second-seeded DePauw (220-7) in the championship match at Pam Evans Smith Arena in Springfield, Ohio.

    Wittenberg senior outside hitter Maddie Fischer (Minerva, OH/Minerva) has been named the Player of the Year and Denison senior Kristin Thewes (Austin, TX/St. Stephen’s Episcopal) was named the Libero of the Year to highlight the 2017 All-North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball selections.
  • Allegheny Mourns the Passing of Bridget Sheehan

    Recently-retired Allegheny College volleyball coach Bridget Sheehan has passed away on October 30 following a battle with cancer.

    After posting a 3-2 comeback win over DePauw (6-1, 15-6) on Tuesday night and a 3-0 win over Wooster (2-5, 14-12) on Saturday, Wittenberg has clinched at least a share of its 12th-straight and league-leading 23rd NCAC volleyball title. The Tigers can put the final touches on the outright title this week with a match at Kenyon on Wednesday night. Following the completion of the league schedule on Wednesday night, the final seeds and pairings for the 2017 NCAC Volleyball Tournament will be announced on Thursday morning.

    The tie at the top of the NCAC volleyball standings will come to a head this week as the two 5-0 teams, DePauw and Wittenberg, are set to square off in Greencastle, Indiana, on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. There are also seven additional conference contests on the slate this week, highlighted by Kenyon traveling to Wooster on Tuesday and Wittenberg hosting Wooster on Saturday.

There are eight league matches on the schedule this week, highlighted by Wittenberg hosting Denison on Wednesday and DePauw traveling to Kenyon on Saturday.

    The league portion of the NCAC volleyball schedule kicked off last weekend with DePauw, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg all opening the slate with conference wins. Through the first four weeks of action, all nine NCAC squads own overall records of .500 or better, which includes a trio of 11-win squads in Wittenberg (11-0), Hiram (11-5) and Wooster (11-7). There are four conference matches on the schedule this week, led by Wittenberg hosting Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night.

    NCAC volleyball teams continued their dominance against non-conference foes last week as all nine league teams still hold a record of .500 or better on the season, led by nationally-ranked Wittenberg opening the season at 9-0 overall for the first time since 2007. The conference portion of the 2017 schedule kicks off this Saturday with four matches on the slate, highlighted by DePauw hosting Denison in Indiana.

    NCAC volleyball teams kicked off the 2017 campaign last weekend with league teams combining for an overall record of 22-12 against non-conference teams in season-opening tournaments across the region, highlighted by No. 11 Wittenberg going 3-0 at its own National Invitational and DePauw posting a 4-0 record at Bluffton’s Sommer Center Spiketacular. League teams return to the courts this weekend with non-conference matches on the schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday, while weekend action will once again feature teams competing at early season tournaments.

    After winning its 11th-straight league title and competing in the NCAC Tournament for the 21st year in a row in 2016, the North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball coaches have once again selected the Wittenberg Tigers as the preseason favorites for the 2017 NCAC volleyball season.
