The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its regional awards on Tuesday, November 14, and the NCAC was reconized with a pair of special award winners in the Great Lakes Region.
Oberlin junior Linnea Halsten (Madison, WI/East) was named the Great Lakes Region Women's Athlete of the Year after winning the regional title last weekend at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio, with a 6k time of 21:37.3. She also won individual titles at four other meets this season, making her a strong favorite in the field of runners at this weekend's NCAA Div. III Cross Country Championships in Elsah, Illinois.
In his 22nd year at the helm of the DePauw cross country program, Kori Stoffregen was named the Great Lakes Region Men's Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to a runner-up finish at last weekend's Great Lakes Regional in Powell, Ohio. He also guided the men's team to their first NCAC title in program history back on November 11th and helped the team to a pair of victories in the regular season at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Opener and the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble.
