The 2019 NCAC Cross Country season came to a close on Saturday, November 23, at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships, held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
Allegheny junior Mica Hanish (Baden, PA/Ambridge) was the top NCAC runner to log an All-American performance at the national meet by finishing in the top-40 in the individual standings, traversing the women's 6K course in 21:53.3 to finish 20th overall. Kenyon sophomore Emma Becker (Rocky River, OH/Magnificat) joined Hanish on the All-American podium by finishing 32nd in a time of 22:07.3.
The Oberlin Yeowomen, who competed as a team at the national championship, made a big jump from their 28th place finish at last years championship to finish 11th overall with 366 points in 2019. The team was led by senior Marija Crook (Carrboro, NC/Chapel Hill), who finished 47th (22:19.2), while freshman Lilly Crook (Carrboro, NC/Chapel Hill) finished 97th (22:51.7) and senior Rachel Urso (Washington, PA/Trinity) placed 101st (22:53.6). Senior Oona Jung-Beeman (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) took 120th (23:00.1) for the Yeowomen and sophomore Nina Liloia (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) was the fifth Oberlin runner to cross the line in 23:17.7 for 164th.
Allegheny also competed as a team in the women's championship race, finishing 28th overall with 682 points. The Gators were led by Hanish, while junior Sarah Lucas (Charleroi, PA/Ringgold) placed 194th (23:28.6) and senior Jacelyn Alberts (West Salem, OH/Northwestern) and freshman Sarah Maue (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua Area) took 222nd (23:50.1) and 223rd (23.50.4), respectively. Allegheny sophomore Molly Tarvin (New Tripoli, PA/Northwest Lehigh) was the fifth Gator to cross the line in 24:03.2 for 238th.
In addition, DePauw sophomore Jenny Noll (La Porte, IN/La Porte) competed as an individual placing 78th in the women's 6K race, in a time of 22:40.8.
In the men's 8K race, a pair of DePauw runners participated as individuals, as senior Cole Martin (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) finished 91st (25:24.3) and sophomore Zane Williams (Carmel, IN/Carmel) crossed the line in 162nd (25:50.7).
