2018 NCAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

October 15th

Grant Sheely, Oberlin
(Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry)

Oberlin’s Grant Sheely placed sixth out of 308 runners at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday morning. In his final home cross country race, the senior clocked in with a season-best time of 25:46.4. He led the Yeomen pack who finished 12th of 27 teams with 319 points. 


Emily Forner, Allegheny
(Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area)

Allegheny senior Emily Forner placed first among 368 runners at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University in Logan Township, New Jersey. In a field that included eight teams ranked in the most-recent USTFCCCA Top-35, Forner covered the 6-kilometer course in a time of 21:05. It was a new personal record at the 6K distance for Forner, as she won by a comfortable 10 seconds. Forner has now placed first in three of the Gators’ four events this season, while she’s finished fifth or better in all four. 

October 1st

Dominic Patacsil, Wabash
(West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette)

Dominic Patacsil placed second out of 412 competitors at Saturday’s Louisville Cross Country Classic, setting a new personal-best time by completing the 8,000-meter race in 24:20.0. 


Emily Forner, Allegheny
(Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area)

In the ‘Brown’ race at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run, Allegheny senior Emily Forner placed fifth overall in a field of 363 runners - and second among non-Division I runners - with a time of 21:27. It was a career-best time at the 6K distance for the two-time All-NCAC honoree, while it marks her third top-five finish in as many events this season.

September 24th

David Westcott, Wooster
(Lake Forest, Ill./Millbrook (N.Y.))

Wooster senior David Westcott’s strong closing effort landing the 2017 all-conference performer in the winner’s circle during last Thursday’s 23-33 dual meet win over Denison. Westcott navigated the 5K course in 16:50.6, and averaged 3:22.1 per kilometer.


Isabelle Hoover, Wooster
(Millersport, Ohio/Fairfield)

Wooster first-year Isabelle Hoover broke the tape with a 5K time of 20:42.5 during the Fighting Scots’ 20-38 win over rival Denison in an old-school dual meet on Thursday. Hoover won by 8.5 seconds and averaged 4:08.5 per kilometer.

September 17th

Kyle Rose, Kenyon
(Meadville, Pa./Meadville)

Kenyon’s Kyle Rose was the top runner at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational over the weekend, finishing the 8K run with a time of 27:50.3. The Lords also won the event, their first team victory since the 2013 season. 


Linnea Halsten, Oberlin
(Madison, Wis./Madison East)

Oberlin senior Linnea Halsten placed first on the 6K course at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational Saturday morning with a time of 22:46.9. The senior beat the 80-person field by 1:00.5 as the Yeowomen placed first among six teams with 23 points. 

September 10th

Paul Christian, DePauw
(Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard East)

DePauw senior Paul Christian finished 11th among 302 runners at Calvin Knight Invitational. Christian was DePauw’s top runner, completing 8K course in 25:41.4.  He averaged a 3:13 pace per kilometer.


Jenny Noll, DePauw
(Laporte, Ind./La Porte)

DePauw freshman Jenny Noll finished 16th among 287 runners at the Calvin Knight Invitational. Noll was DePauw’s top finisher, finishing the 5K course in 18:54.9. She averaged a 3:47 pace per kilometer.

September 4th

Dominic Patacsil, Wabash
(West Lafaytte, Ind./West Lafayette)

Wabash senior Dominic Patacsil posted the top individual finish for the Wabash cross country team at Friday's (Aug. 31) Butler Twilight Opener. He finished fourth, trailing only three runners from NCAA Division I host Butler, with a time of 18:56.4 over the 6,000-meter course.


Emily Willson, Denison
(Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable)

Freshman Emily Willson paced the Big Red at the 2018 Sodexo Grizzly Invite hosted by Franklin College at the Blue River Cross Country course in Shelbyville, Ind. Willson placed seventh overall out of 117 runners with a time of 24:29.90 in her college debut.
