2019 Cross Country Runners of the Week

September 3rd

Vincent Lewis, Kenyon
(Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius Prep)

Kenyon senior Vincent Lewis claimed first among 76 runners as the Lords hosted a quad meet with Denison, Ohio Wesleyan and Mount Vernon Nazarene. He finished the 5,000-meter course in 16:32.0, which was nine seconds faster than the runner-up.


Oona Jung-Beeman, Oberlin
(Wilmette, IL/New Trier)

Oberlin senior Oona Jung-Beeman secured a winning time of 14:45.8 at the season-opening Wooster Invitational. She was the only runner with an average mile time of sub six-minutes, averaging 5:55.7 per mile over the 4,000-meter trek.

September 9th

Cole Martin, DePauw
(Noblesville, IN/Noblesville)

DePauw senior Cole Martin clocked an 8k time of 25:47.2 at the Calvin Knight Invitational, finishing 24th out of 218 runners. His finish helped the Tigers secure seventh out of 24 schools competing at the event.


Isabelle Hoover, Wooster
(Millersport, OH/Fairfield Union)

Wooster sophomore Isabelle Hoover broke the tape at the Denison-Wooster dual meet for the second straight year. Hoover crossed at 20:23.3 in the three-mile race Thursday.

September 16th

Ben Foster, Denison
(Westport, CT/Staples)

Denison senior Ben Foster finished first in a field of 129 runners Saturday at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. His performance helped lead the Big Red to a second-place finish with 75 team points. Foster broke the tape by covering the 8K course at Liberty Park in 26:05.8.


Emma Becker, Kenyon
(Rocky River, OH/Magnificat)

Kenyon sophomore Emma Becker led the Ladies cross country team to a first-place finish at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. Becker clocked a time of 22:52.9 which was tops among a field of 124 total runners.

September 23rd

Sam Henthorn, Wabash
(Carmel, IN/Westfield)

Wabash senior Sam Henthorn completed the 8k course at Saturday’s John McNichols Invitational in 26:37.4 to finish 104th overall in a field of 268 NCAA Division I, II, and III runners. His time helped the Little Giants to an 18th-place finish overall and third among Division III teams.


Jenny Noll, DePauw
(La Porte, IN/La Porte)

DePauw sophomore Jenny Noll was the top women's Division III runner at the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State. She completed the 5k course in 19:23, good for 108th among the 234 runners in the field.

September 30th

Cole Martin, DePauw
(Noblesville, IN/Noblesville)

DePauw senior Cole Martin broke the tape among 274 runners in the gold division of the Loyola University Lakefront Invitational. Martin finished the 8k course in 25:57.85, helping the Tigers finish seventh out of 31 teams.


Emma Becker, Kenyon
(Rocky River, OH/Magnificat)

Kenyon sophomore Emma Becker finished 12th overall in a field of 282 runners at Saturday’s All-Ohio Cross Championship held at Cedarville University’s Elvin R. King course. She completed the 6K run in a time of 22:44.1, finishing as the top Division III runner at the meet.

October 7th

Sam Henthorn, Wabash
(Carmel, IN/Westfield)

Wabash’s Sam Henthorn ran a career-best time to place 74th out of 276 runners at Saturday’s Louisville Cross Country Classic. The senior completed the 8,000-meter course that will serve as the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championship venue in 25:43.4. Wabash finished 24th out of 40 teams in the Silver Division race mostly comprised of NCAA DIII programs.


Mica Hanish, Allegheny
(Baden, PA/Ambridge)

Allegheny junior Mica Hanish led the Gators at the Lehigh Paul Short Run with a fifth-place finish out 370 runners. The junior completed the 6,000-meter course with a time of 21:19.3, averaging a 5:43 mile time.
