The Terriers also defeated Case, 3-0. _________________________________________________________________________ October 21, 2007 Oberlin freshman Maggie Jacobson (Carefree, AZ/Cactus Shadow) led the way with 16 kills and 1.5 blocks in a straight set loss to Wooster, and seven kills and 10 digs in a 3-2 defeat of Ohio Wesleyan. The victory over the Battling Bishops was Oberlin's first conference victory since the 2003 season. Jacobsen also contributed 2.5 blocks in a 3-0 defeat of Thiel. _________________________________________________________________________ October 14, 2007 Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) smashed 49 kills in 10 games to lead Earlham last week. The Quakers lost to Urbana and Wooster, then defeated Oberlin in four. _________________________________________________________________________ October 7, 2007 Wooster junior libero Ali Drushal (Lakeville, OH/West Holmes) broke an NCAA Division III record for digs in a four-game match when she dug out 56 balls against Ohio Wesleyan. For the week, she totaled 159 digs for an average of 9.9 per game, in addition to 14 assists, three aces and two kills. The Scots went 3-1 last week, 2-1 in conference play. She is just the second Wooster playe to eclipse the 2,000 dig mark in her career. _________________________________________________________________________ October 2, 2007 Denison’s Ali Trotter (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), the NCAC assist leader this season, posted a career-high 60 assists in a five-game victory over Ohio Wesleyan. She also contributed 36 assists in a straight-set victory over Earlham. _________________________________________________________________________ September 23, 2007 Hiram senior Megan Taylor (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) smashed 38 kills, 65 assists and 18 digs in 10 games as the Terriers improved to 14-1 overall with wins over Denison, 3-1, Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0, and Mount St. Joseph, 3-0, last week. _________________________________________________________________________ September 16, 2007 In five matches last week, Allegheny senior outside hitter Annie Schulthies (Canton, OH/GlenOak) led the team with 81 kills, .298 attack percentage and was second with 78 digs. She had double doubles in kills and digs in all five matches, including a 22-kill, 22-dig effort in a five-game defeat of Oberlin. Schulthies was named to the all-tournament team at the Westminster Invitational, and at the tournament, recorded her 1,000th career kill. She ended the week with 1,031 kills, for eighth all time at Allegheny. _________________________________________________________________________ September 9, 2007 Wittenberg junior outside hitter Jackie Williams (Rocky River, OH/ Magnificat) was named to the all-tournament team at the Washington National Invitational. Williams pounded out 56 kills on a .475 attack percentage, to go with 14 digs and 11 total blocks as the Tigers won the tournament with a 4-0 record. Three of the victories came over nationallly ranked foes: #4 Washington (MO), #12 Concordia Moorhead and #15 Ohio Northern. The Tigers also defeated Central (IA). _________________________________________________________________________ September 4, 2007 Ohio Wesleyan senior libero Jaime Scharf (Marion, OH/River Valley) was named MVP of the Ohio Wesleyan tournament as the Bishops went 2-2 with wins over Lake Erie and Bethany by 3-0 counts and losses to Transylvania (3-2) and Grove City (3-1). Scharf registered 92 digs for an average of 6.13 digs over 15 games. _________________________________________________________________________
