The Terriers defeated Earlham and Urbana in straight sets, and lost to Wittenberg, 3-1, stealing the only game the Tigers have surrendered all season in conference play. Kozempa leads the second-seeded Terriers into the NCAC tournament after leading Hiram to a school record 30-win season. _________________________________________________________________________ October 21, 2006 Allegheny's Annie Schultheis (Canton, OH/Glen Oak) recorded 43 kills and hit for a percentage of .269 as the Gators went 1-1 in NCAC play. Schutheis also picked up 36 digs and had six total blocks. _________________________________________________________________________ October 15, 2006 Wooster middle hitter Ashley Quisenberry (Springfield, OH/Catholic Central) led the Scots with 31 kills (5.2 kpg), 26 digs (4.3 dpg), three service aces and five blocks in her team's 1-1 week. Quisenberry totaled a career-best 21 kills in a three-set victory over Oberlin. _________________________________________________________________________ October 8, 2006 Junior outside hitter Steffi Graf (Poland, OH/Seminary) of Ohio Wesleyan smashed 51 kills with a .309 hitting percentage, and had 74 digs. She averaged 4.64 kills and 6.73 digs in 11 games played, as the Bishops went 2-1 last week with wins over Bluffton and Kenyon. _________________________________________________________________________ October 2, 2006 Denison senior outside attack Kristen Sheffield (Dublin, OH/Scioto) posted 48 kills in seven games for an average of 6.9 kills per game, leading the Big Red to NCAC wins over Oberlin and Wooster last week. She recorded 27 against the Scots and 21 versus Oberlin. She has a team- high 312 kills this season and has led the team in the category in all 17 contests this season. As of Sept. 24, Sheffield was tied for ninth in the nation in kills per game average. _________________________________________________________________________ September 24, 2006 Wittenberg junior Jan Kehres (Alliance, OH/Alliance) had three aces in a 3-0 defeat of Wooster, then had three more aces with 15 kills and 24 digs in a four-game win over Baldwin-Wallace. Kehres finished the week with 18 kills on 34 attempts in a straight set victory over Ohio Wesleyan. _________________________________________________________________________ September 17, 2006 Hiram senior Michelle Kozempa (Seven Hills, OH/Normandy) led Hiram to a 4-0 week, including two wins in North Coast action, with 50 kills and 10 blocks in 12 games played for averages of 4.17 kills and 0.83 blocks per game in the four matches. _________________________________________________________________________ September 10, 2006 Earlham junior middle blocker Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) smashed 60 kills in four matches as the Quakers won three times at the Rose-Hulman tournament. Vanderkolk also contributed 17 digs and 10 blocks. _________________________________________________________________________ September 3, 2006 Ohio Wesleyan senior middle hitter Megan Margala (Prospect, OH/Marion Elgin) totaled 36 kills (2.57 per game), 20 solo blocks, 10 block assists and 30 total blocks (2.14 blocks per game) as OWU won the Bishop Invitational for the first time since 1999.
