Mar. 3, 2010 Boardman, who helped the Tigers to the North Coast championship, makes her third appearance the All-NCAC squad, and second as a member of the first team. She led Wittenberg and finished second in the conference in scoring (17.0 points per game), rebounding (7.9 rebounds per game), and field-goal percentage (51.5%). Boardman was a second-team selection in 2008. Wooster senior Kym Wenz (North Ridgeville, OH/Avon Lake) and Denison junior Shaina Kaiser (Ostrander, OH/Buckeye Valley) join Boardman as repeat first-team selections. Wenz makes her third appearance on the All-NCAC squad. She was an honorable mention choice in 2007. Ohio Wesleyan junior Tyler Cordell (Columbus, OH/DeSales), Wittenberg senior Carrie Dyer (Copley, OH/Copley) and Fighting Scot senior Kaitlin Krister (Kent, OH/Walsh Jesuit) move up to the first team after earning second-team recognition in 2009. Dyer and Krister also earn their third all-conference nods. Dyer was honorable mention in 2008 while Krister was a member of the second team in 2008. Allegheny junior Jill Gregory (Jeanette, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic) moves up to the first team after earning honorable mention honors last winter. Kenyon sophomore Megan Korinek (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) makes her All-NCAC debut as a member of the first team. She was the conference's Newcomer of the Year in 2009. Oberlin fresham Allison Anderson (Springfield, IL/Springfield) was voted the North Coast Newcomer of the Year. She was the only first-year player selected to the all-conference team. Anderson had a stellar rookie campaign, leading the league in assists (5.6 per game), steals (3.1 per game) and minutes played (3.86). She was third in the conference with a 0.9 assists-to-turnovers ratio. Wittenberg head coach Sarah Jurewicz was voted Coach of the Year for the first time after she guided her team to its first NCAC Championship since 2006. The Tigers went 19-8 overall and 15-1 in North Coast play this season. Jurewicz is 48-31 (.608) in three seasons at Wittenberg. |
