Mar. 5, 2009 Kaiser, who helped the Big Red to their second North Coast championship, makes her debut on the All-NCAC squad as a member of the first team. She led Denison in scoring (13.6 ppg), field-goal percentage (49.4), three pointers made (38), three-point shooting percentage (48.1) and free throws made (51). In addition, the well-rounded Kaiser was second on the team in rebounds (155), assists (74) and steals (35) Kaiser's Denison teammates Ellen O'Brien (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) and Carolyn Simpson (Dublin, OH/Scioto), both seniors, make repeat appearances on the first team. Simpson wraps up her career as a four-time All-NCAC selection. She was honorable mention in 2006 and second team in 2007. O'Brien, a three-time honoree, was honorable mention in 2007. Allegheny senior Stephanie Wolf (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) makes her second straight appearance on the first team. Wittenberg junior Stephanie Boardman (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) moves up to the first team after earning second-team honors in 2008. Wooster junior Kym Wenz (North Ridgeville, OH/Avon Lake), the 2007 NCAC Co-Newcomer of the Year, returns to the All-NCAC squad as a member of the first team. She was honorable mention as a freshman. Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Pam Quigney (Mentor, OH/Mentor) rounds out the top squad. She makes her debut on the all-conference team. Kenyon freshman Megan Korinek (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) was selected as Newcomers of the Year. She led the second-place Ladies in field-goal percengage (49.6) and rebounding average (6.1 rpg), and was second on the squad in scoring (8.5 ppg) and steals per game (2.1). Ohio Wesleyan head coach Nan Carney-DeBord was voted Coach of the Year for the seventh time after she guided her team to a third-place tie, the NCAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth. In 23 seasons at the helm of the Battling Bishops, Carney-DeBord is 398-207 (.658). |
