ALLEGHENY MEN FINISH SEVENTH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Allegheny men’s cross country team placed seventh of 32 teams at the NCAA Division III championships, held at St. Olaf College. The top runner for the Gators was senior Ryan Place (Meshoppen, PA/Elk Lake) in 64th place with a time of 25:34. Denison senior Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, OH/Chillicothe) wound up in 62nd place in the field of 280 runners with a time of 25:32. Junior Jim Boston (Brookfield, WI/Marquette) represented Kenyon at the national meet. He finished 41st as the top runner from the NCAC at the meet, crossing the line in 25:18.

The Allegheny women’s team was 32nd of 32 teams as freshman Mia Symoniak (East Snyder, NY/Amherst Central) placed 142nd. She finished the 6,000-meter course in 23:16. Denison freshman Brooke Boening (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson) completed the course in 23:01 for 104th place of 280 runners. Kenyon competed as a team and wound up 28th behind freshman Lauren Brady (Tyngsboro, MA/Phillips Exeter) in 48th place. Brady completed the course in 22:29 to top all NCAC competitors at the meet. Oberlin freshman Joanna Johnson (Chico, CA/Chico) finished the meet with a time of 22:54, good for 89th place.
