November 14, 2007 Ash, who makes her first team debut after earning second team recognition in each of the past two seasons, scored six goals and added five assists for the second-place Big Red. Denison was the NCAC Tournament runner-up and advanced to the NCAA III tournament for the 11th time. The offensive-minded Big Red were second in the conference in goals (41) and points (100). Arnold earns her second straight first team recognition after leading the Ladies to a fourth-place tie in the conference standings. She makes her fourth appearnace on the All-NCAC team. Arnold was named honorable mention as a freshman in 2004, and moved up to the second team as a sophomore, before achieving first-team accolades as a junior and senior. Six other players are repeat first-teamers. Wooster senior Laura Ayer (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) is a three-time first team choice and also was honorable mention in 2004. Ohio Wesleyan junior Michelle Corbett (Dublin, OH/Scioto) earns her third straight first-team nod. Kenyon senior Amanda Drummond (Mayfield Hts., OH/Hawken), Wittenberg senior Amanda Farrell (Loveland, OH/Loveland) and Tiger junior Suzanne Medwid (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) all make their second consective appearances on the first team. Drummond and Medwid are on the all-conference team for the third time; both earned second team honors in 2005. Denison senior goalkeeper Liz Gillette (Mentor, OH/NDCL) returns to the first team after earning similar recognition in 2004 and 2005. She was an honorable mention selection last fall. Denison sophomore Katie Eckenhoff (Glencoe, IL/New Trier) and Wittenberg senior Meghan O’Rourke (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) moved up to the top squad after earning second team honors in 2006. Wooster junior Kristin McCall (Portage, MI/Northern) appears on the team for the second time after earning honorable mention a season ago. Earlham freshman Karmon Duchon (Decatur, GA/Decatur) was selected Newcomer of the Year after she led the North Coast in scoring with 13 goals, 11 assists and 2.06 points per game for the sixth-place Quakers. Earlham head coach Jim Watts was voted Coach of the Year for the first time. After narrowly missing out on making their first NCAC Tournament appearance on the last day of the season, the Quakers finished their 2007 campaign under his direction with a 12-5-1 overall record and 4-4-0 mark in the conference. Watts has compiled a 46-67-7 (.413) oveall record in his seven seasons at the helm of the Earlham women’s program. |
