__________________________________________________________________________ November 9, 2003 In an NCAC Tournament semifinal matchup, Denison senior Jess Leahy (Worthington, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) recorded four saves against Ohio Wesleyan, giving the Big Red their first shutout over the Bishops since Nov. 12, 2000. In the tourney final, she held Wooster to one goal in 110 minutes and stopped two shots in the ensuing shootout to lead Denison to its first NCAC tournament championship. Leahy had six saves on the week and lowered her GAA to 0.86. __________________________________________________________________________ November 2, 2003 Ohio Wesleyan sophomore forward Sarah Wall (Upper Arlington, OH/Upper Arlington) tied a school record for goals (4) and set a school record for points (9) in a game against Earlham. She scored four of the first five goals and assisted on the other. Wall's four goals tied the Bishop record set by Kerry McGuire in 1986 and tied by three others, including Katy Sturtz (twice in 1998 and once in 2000). The assist bumped her total to nine points in the game, breaking the school record of eight shared by four previous Bishop athletes. The four-goal outburst came on the 17th anniversary of the first time an Ohio Wesleyan player scored four goals in a game (Kerry McGuire, 11/1/1986 vs. Wooster). In one-plus seasons, Wall now has 46 goals (fourth all-time at OWU), 26 career assists (tied for fifth all- time at OWU) and 118 career points (fourth all-time at OWU). Wall opened the week with a goal and an assist in OWU's 9-0 win over Ohio Dominican. __________________________________________________________________________ October 26, 2003 Kenyon's Annie Brobst (Columbus, OH/Alternative) scored once in each of Ladies' two victories last week. The wins kept Kenyon in the hunt for a spot in the upcoming NCAC tournament. She has a team-best six goals this season. __________________________________________________________________________ October 19, 2003 Allegheny senior forward Jill Malone (Moon Township, PA/Moon Township) netted her fourth and fifth goals of the season, both gamewinners, in wins over Penn State-Behrend (1-0) and Wittenberg (1-0). Malone leads the Gators with 13 points as Allegheny has not lost a game since starting the season 1-1-1. __________________________________________________________________________ October 12, 2003 Denison freshman Anne Young (Columbus, OH/Worthington-Kilbourne) scored her first goal of the match six minutes into the contest and netted her second goal of the contest with six minutes remaining, leading Denison to a 2-0 victory over Wooster. Young leads the Big Red with eight goals this season and is fourth in the NCAC, averaging 1.33 points per game. __________________________________________________________________________ October 5, 2003 Allegheny senior Teresa Lettrich (Allison Park, PA/Shady Side Academy) scored a pair of unassisted goals in the last 4:37 of the game to lift the NCAC-leading Gators to a 3-1 victory over Earlham. It was Allegheny's seventh straight win. __________________________________________________________________________ September 28, 2003 Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Sarah Wall (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) scored a hat trick in the first half against Wilmington. The Bishops won 4-0 in a rematch of last fall's NCAA regional championship. Wall followed up with two goals in OWU's NCAC opener at Oberlin. __________________________________________________________________________ September 21, 2003 Allegheny junior Ashley Kittridge (McMurray, PA/Peter's Township) scored three goals last week as the Gators went 3-0, outscoring their opponents 12-2 during the week. Kittridge had two goals against Washington & Jefferson and added a goal against Grove City. The junior is tied for second on the team with six points on three goals. __________________________________________________________________________ September 14, 2003 Oberlin freshman Samantha Schongalla (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) scored six goals and added two assists in two wins last week. She opened the week with two goals and two assists in a 5-4 win over Washington & Jefferson and followed with four goals in a 6-1 victory over Ursuline. The Yeowomen also lost to Cedarville, 3-0, last week. Schongalla leads the conference with 2.83 points per game off seven goals and three assists for 17 points. __________________________________________________________________________ September 7, 2003 Earlham sophomore keeper Kari Wilder-Romans (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) tallied 11 saves on 18 shots as Earlham blanked Rose-Hulman 1-0 last week. She also tallied three saves in a shutout of Shawnee State. Wilder-Romans' defensive efforts have led Earlham to a 3-0 start on the season, the best start in Quaker women's soccer history. __________________________________________________________________________
