By registering a pair of shutouts in the tourney, she broke the school record for career shutouts with 31, topping the total of 30.5 that Sarah Newlin, the 1995 National Player of the Year, achieved in the Red & White. __________________________________________________________________________ October 29, 2006 Kenyon junior Katy Spear (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) scored the game- winner in the title-clinching, 1-0, win over Earlham. The championship is the first for the Ladies and they enter the NCAC Tournament as the number one seed. __________________________________________________________________________ October 21, 2006 Wittenberg freshman Sarah Pirozzi (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) scored the OT game-winner in a 1-0 win over Earlham and then added the second goal in a 3-1 win over Oberlin. __________________________________________________________________________ October 15, 2006 Kenyon senior Jean Arnold Atlanta, GA/Westminster) scored the game-winner in a 1-0, double-overtime victory over Washington & Jefferson. The Ladies also lost, 1-0, to Ohio Wesleyan last week. __________________________________________________________________________ October 8, 2006 Earlham freshman Emily Roth (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) collected her fourth game-winner of the season when she found the back of the net seven minutes into the extra period to hand the Quakers a 1-0 victory over Oberlin. Earlham has now won three straight, including two in NCAC play, and six of their last seven matches. __________________________________________________________________________ October 2, 2006 Wooster senior midfielder Sarah Schostarez (Portage, MI/Portage Northern) scored three of the Fighting Scots' six goals last week, highlighted by the lone tally in Wooster's 1-0 conference victory over Ohio Wesleyan. The win was the Scots' first against the Bishops since 1997. Schostarez, who entered the week with just one goal this season, also booted in a pair in Wooster's 5-1 win over Mt. Union. __________________________________________________________________________ September 24, 2006 Allegheny sophomore Katie Murphy (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) scored two goals and dished out two assists to lead the Gators to a 2-0 week. She leads Allegheny with 1.5 points per game (four goals, four assists over eight games). __________________________________________________________________________ September 17, 2006 Oberlin senior midfielder Sam Schongalla (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) tallied five goals in three games, including a hat trick against Lake Erie to lead the Yeowomen to a 3-0 week. Schongalla scored the second goal in a 2-0 win over Thomas More and the second goal in a 3-0 win over Muskingum. She recorded a hat trick against Lake Erie, including the game-winner. Oberlin won 4-0. The three wins improve Oberlin’s record to 4-3, handing the Yeowomen a winning record after they began the season 0-3. __________________________________________________________________________ September 10, 2006 Denison senior Tammy Hoch (Moon Township, PA/Sewickley) scored twice and added an assist in a 6-1 defeat of Guilford, then headed in the game- winner in overtime in a 2-1 decision over Case. Finally, she led the Big Red to a 6-0 victory over Pomona-Pitzer with a pair of goals. She has six goals and an assist to lead Denison in scoring through four games this season. __________________________________________________________________________ September 3, 2006 Ohio Wesleyan sophomore forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin, OH/Scioto) scored twice and tacked on an assist to lead the Battling Bishops past Guilford, 7-2, in the first round of the Big Red/Bishops Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan on Sept. 2. __________________________________________________________________________
