NCAC Swimming and Diving Profiles

Edited: January 27, 2003

GET TO KNOW SWIMMING'S BEST

The North Coast Athletic Conference features some of most talented swimmers and divers in the country today. Led by the Lords and Ladies of Kenyon College, NCAC swimmers have assaulted college swimming's record books. Kenyon's domination of Division III swimming continued last year as the Lords stretched their streak of consecutive national championships to 23. No other men's or women's teams in NCAA history -- any sport, any division -- have won as many consecutive titles. The Ladies won their 18th women's national title last year.

Each week, two swimmers from each of nine NCAC schools will be profiled, in order to show off the student-athletes behind the incredible numbers listed above. This week, meet swimmers from Wabash College.

Nick Collins
Senior
Michigantown, IN/Clinton Central
Political Science Major
Speech and Biology minor

Nick Collins is about to complete his final season in the water for Wabash College. He's enjoyed a successful career as a Little Giant, earning All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a freshman member of Wabash's 800-yard freestyle relay team. Collins set the school record for the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:53.93 as a freshman while earning the team's Mental Attitude Award. He is the captain of the Wabash team, as well.

Collins was voted the team's Most Valuable Swimmer the past two seasons while helping the team to three consecutive third-place finishes at the NCAC Swimming and Diving Championships. He has also helped the Little Giants to a 5-3 record in dual meet competition this year and an
outstanding 24-7 record in four seasons. Collins has helped guide Wabash to an overall record of 142-42 in four years of competition. He also had an outstanding high school career swimming for the Clinton Central Bulldogs. Collins set nine school swimming records at Clinton Central and was named the MVP three consecutive years.

Collins plans to find a job in sales after graduation this spring, and plans to be married in July 2003.

Brandon Peacock
Junior
Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville
Economics Major

The journey from high school to collegiate swimming was a short one for Brandon Peacock. The Wabash junior was a member of the Crawfordsville High School team, one of the top programs in the state of Indiana. He was the Mental Attitude Award winner at CHS, captain of the swimming team, and four-year letterman prior to attending Wabash.

Peacock's high school success has translated into a solid college career as a member of the Little Giants. He earned All-NCAC honors as a member of the third-place 200 medley relay team in 2002, and was named a co-captain of the team this season. Peacock has been a member of three record-setting teams at Wabash in just three seasons. He has helped the Little Giants set records in the Class of 1950 Natatorium in the 200 medley relay, the 400 medley relay, and the 200 freestyle relay.
